Education and early career

The Giants CEO is a fourth-generation San Franciscan, and he has spent most of his life in the city. Before beginning his career, he attended the University of California, where he graduated in 1980 with Phi Beta Kappa honors. Soon after his graduation, the Giants as the sports franchise’s marketing director before leaving in 1983 to join the prestigious Harvard Business School.

After completing his studies, Baer took up a job at the Westinghouse Broadcasting at the company’s offices in San Francisco and later New York.

The SF Giants CEO then moved to CBS to become the special assistant to Laurence Tisch, the network’s chairman, and CEO. In 1992, Larry moved back to SF Giants after he and a partner purchased a majority stake at the franchise.

Firstly, he led the sports franchise to construct the famous AT&T Park, which became the first privately funded ballpark in the MLB.
