Alejandro Betancourt is the President and CEO of OCI Partners LP, a publicly traded midstream master limited partnership with operations in the United States and Canada. Mr. Betancourt is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OGE Energy Resources, Inc., a publicly traded electric utility company. Mr. Betancourt has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry.
Alejandro Betancourt was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He went to high school in Miami, Florida, and received his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Betancourt began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP in Houston, Texas. He then worked for El Paso Corporation in various positions, including Vice President of Business Development for Latin America.
After leaving El Paso, Mr. Betancourt co-founded Tristar Transportes Maritimos, S.A., a maritime transportation company in Latin America and the Caribbean. He also co-founded Ocensa Pipeline Partners, L.P., a Colombian oil pipeline company. In 2007, Mr. Betancourt helped lead the initial public offering of OCI Partners LP.
Alejandro Betancourt has received various awards and recognition for his work in the energy industry. In 2012, he was named “CEO of the Year” by Platts Global Energy Awards. He has also been recognized as a “Leader in Sustainability” by The Economist magazine.
